Cooperative Quest
Dates: 01/11/2024—17/11/2024 Moscow, Russia Gallery: The ZIL Cultural Center Curators: Alfredo Arévalo, Alexander Sokolov

“cooperative quest” is a self-referential exhibition whose central theme is its own story told through metaphor of a video game in the multiplayer RPG genre. A global network of friends, artists and curators collaborating on the idea of mutual support is interpreted as a guild of adventurers in a video game. The game tells how this contemporary art guild was created, what quests they have done in the past, and how the characters' skills developed as they worked together.

The exhibition is organized as a game map, divided into different levels or worlds and quests that the characters have completed together. Each world represents a new area opening up on the map and the emergence of new friends joining the guild. Viewers will discover stories of friendship and game quests as they travel the map and follow the lines that connect the game's worlds to the quests and characters.

Through this video game metaphor, the exhibition explores how new dynamics of collaboration and friendship are being created within young contemporary art scenes that are struggling to go global. It addresses new ways of telling our own stories and making sense of our experiences as art workers, while also being an attempt to map the networks of mutual support that we create in our shared experiences.
