Euforia

The Lengua Franca gallery presents Euforia, the fourth solo exhibition by French artist Mathieu L’Hôte. Situated between abstractionism and urban art, it recreates the atmosphere of an abandoned school in Marseille where most of the works were made.

Broken glass, papers, pamphlets, and other debris are the raw materials with which the artist places the viewer within his own ruined simulacrum to ask questions. For example, how art could go beyond a simple aesthetic object to also function as a tool of protest and attention to abandoned public spaces that have become shelters for people living on the margins of society.
