The Hidden Side of a Mutated Society
October 29 – November 7, 2024 Opening Performance: October 29, 7:00 PM openARTs space MERGE?, Busan, South Korea
This group exhibition brings together 18 artists — including residents and invited participants — to explore the concept of a “mutated society”, where artificial modifications have become the norm: from genetically engineered animals to the reshaping of nature and human life to fit technology, trends, and profit.

Through video art, installation, and performance, the artists examine how human desire and convenience disrupt ecological balance, turning living beings into products. The exhibition raises urgent questions: Who benefits from this transformation — and who is sacrificed?

By offering an artistic lens on these hidden structures, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between humans, nature, and systems of control — and to imagine new artistic vocabularies for making sense of this complex, shifting reality.
