El césped es más verde del otro lado

Mafi Navarrete (Lima, 1999) is finishing her painting and sculpture studies at the Corriente Alterna art school. On the cusp of her first solo exhibition, she continues to explore emotional relationships and everyday settings. “El césped es más verde del otro lado,” the title of her show, plays on the famous proverb that humankind tends to idealize what it doesn't have and desire what is beyond its reach.

Thus, the universe she creates appears tranquil on the surface, but deep down, it is populated by insecurities that coexist amid a mixture of childhood innocence, adolescent carelessness, and everyday self-absorption.
